Q: How do I book a rental?
You can reserve gear through our official website up to 90 days in advance. Same-day rentals may be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Q: What do I need to bring?
All renters must bring a valid government-issued ID. Everyone 18+ must sign their own waiver. Minors need a guardian’s signature, and guardians must be present during the rental.
Q: When should I arrive for my rental?
Please arrive at least 20 minutes early (5 minutes for pick-up + 15 minutes for orientation). Late arrivals may lose rental time.
Payments & Cancellations
Q: When do I pay?
Full payment is due at the time of booking through our secure online system.
Q: What payment types do you accept?
We accept credit/debit cards online or in-person payments via Zelle.
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
24+ Hours Before Rental: Full refund.
Less than 24 hours Before Rental: No refund or credit issued.
No Show: No refund or credit issued.
Early Returns/Unused Time: Early returns or unused rental time do not qualify for refunds or credit.
No Exceptions: Illness, travel delays, or personal emergencies do not override this policy.
Rental Use & Safety
Q: Do I need to wear a life jacket?
Yes, life jackets (provided) must be worn at all times while on the water.
Q: Can I bring my dog?
Absolutely! Let us know ahead of time. Pet life jackets are available upon request. You’re responsible for your pet’s safety.
Q: What if I return the gear late?
Late returns incur a $25 fee per 30 minutes. After 60 minutes, the gear is considered lost/stolen, and further fees will apply.
Q: Are there age restrictions?
Minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Youth-specific rentals are the only exception.
Damage, Loss & Security Deposits
Q: What if I damage or lose the equipment?
You’re financially responsible for any loss, damage, or theft. Charges include fair market value, labor, and downtime.
Q: Is there a security deposit?
Yes, a temporary security deposit (50% of the rental cost) is held per item.
Q: What if I abandon gear?
A minimum $250 retrieval fee will be charged if gear is abandoned or requires retrieval.
Weather-Related Questions
Q: What happens if the weather is bad?
We may cancel rentals due to unsafe conditions like lightning, high winds, or fire danger. You’ll receive a full refund or the option to reschedule.
Q: What if the weather changes during my rental?
If unsafe weather develops, return immediately. No refunds or credits for shortened rentals.
Winter Gear Rentals
Q: Anything special for snow rentals?
Yes! Gear must be returned clean and dry, or incur a $20 cleaning fee. We offer adult and youth snowshoes. Refunds aren’t issued for lack of snow unless we cancel.
Prohibited Conduct
Q: Are there rules for behavior?
Yes. No drugs or alcohol are allowed before or during the rental. Reckless or rude behavior will result in immediate cancellation without refund.

Legal Reminders
You participate at your own risk and must be able to swim with a life jacket.
You release Gold Country Rec Rentals from liability.
We reserve the right to use any photos or videos taken during your rental for promotional use.
